Class of the Week: Step!

Step is literally the most fabulous class I have ever taken! I have been taking it all summer to get in shape sometimes twice a week! It is a non-stop, 1 hour class that includes a power playlist and not a moment of rest! My instructor Denise is crazy and fun and perfect for pushing me through the calorie burning class. The step can sometimes intimidate people but trust me when I say, it will help you get into the best shape of your life! Because there are no breaks it makes you push yourself til you need to stop. If you are ever in Pittsburgh, Amerifit's Step classes are the best around, if not go check out one near you. You will NOT be disappointed!

TRUTH: Summer Bod

Most people I know are under some kind of illusion that "the workout" equals "the body". I was one of these delusional people for pretty much all of high school. When I put on the Freshman 10, I was caught off guard and decided to dig deeper. I am a fitness junkie, for life!!!! I am not saying that you sweating it out for two hours a day is a waste...I am simply saying you should probably take a deeper look at what you are putting in your mouth!

  • Let's Talk Proteins: For all of our lives we have been trained that protein is the end all, be all. Don't get me wrong...you should get your daily dose, but not from the typical foods we go to. Fresh Broccoli has wayyyyy more protein than an oz of beef. People are under some kind of kick that meat is the way to go, which then hurts their veggie and fruit intake. I AM TELLING YOU! Time to put some green in your meals.
  • People are Scaredy Cats: For all of your lives, you usually have set usuals, especially when it comes to food. But food is amazing! And there is a whole world out there of foods that people have never tried because they are too scared or don't have the money. I promise if you read up on some cooking ideas, you can make just about anything taste good! Health foods will keep you alive way longer than any fast food substitution. It becomes set in your brains since you are a kid that you won't like or enjoy healthier foods.
  • Processed Foods are a NOGO: Just cut it out now. If it comes in a package no matter what...it is bad for your body. Even the fat-free or 100 calorie alternatives are terrible for you. Just trust me when I say, no processed foods!
I will report on healthy eating sometime within the next two weeks with my report on Eat to Live! In the mean time, read up and practice eating clean and healthy!

Summer Check In

I have taken two days off to start my prep vacation prep. Starting tomorrow I will have a week until vacation and hope to loose 4 lbs if possible. I will cleanse with fruit shakes and salads and drink only naked juices next Thursday as a "fake cleanse". As far as working out goes, I will do classes Saturday and Sunday and start running Monday-Thursday. Abs every single day! Just a quick last minute easy prep for everyone to throw into their routine.

Cleanse It!

I did a cleanse right before the 4th of July to make sure I looked as best as I could for a bathing suit. I went to wholefoods and spent about $20 on three bottles of Suja juices. I HATED JUICE CLEANSING. I wasn't extremely hungry and I loved Fuel, but I noticed I didn't have a ton of energy. I couldn't bare to drink Fiji because it tasted like celery and the Vanilla Cloud would have been nice to mix in with like a Chai Tea or milkshake but overall I didn't enjoy the taste. By the end of the night I had a small plate of peppers and shrimp just because I was hungry and wanted to taste something good. I did however notice that I looked alittle leaner. Which I can also credit to the past week of me exercising a ton. I would maybe try a juice cleanse again if need be, but a few other flavors.

Fab Tip: Your Inner Beyonce

My "Inner Beyonce" is something I have acquired over some time, since about my junior year of high school. I went to a preforming arts high school so believe me...I did have a little competition when it came to who was the most fierce but overall I was surrounded by people who pushed me to be exactly who I wanted to be...a queen!
An "Inner Beyonce" is a fierce persona that you have; when you walk into a room or the way you dress and talk, just about any grand thing that you do, had to have this montra in order to fit the mold. The "I-am-a-bad-bitch-and-I-know-it" montra. So if you have it or if you don't, let me give you some tips to ensure you are Queen B herself.
  1. Always act calm, cool and collected. If you are a crazy bitch, you need to hide this from the general public...or atleast do not raise your voice a few octaves when you are talking crazy.
  2. Practice walking...I am being completely serious. Put on your Louboutins, turn on Crazy in Love by Beyonce and walk down your hall like it was Paris Fashion Week in this bitch. You will get a jolt of confidence and once you perfect the Beyonce walk, it will be extremely hard to turn it off.
  3. Dress like you are the hottest girl within 50 miles, because let's be serious, you are. Even if you are hitting the gym, sweating and only a bit of mascara, you are the hottest girl covered in sweat since Lora Croft. Don't look like you are trying too hard but always look fab...this will pay off trust me.
  4. Speak with grace...like Grace Kelly. If we could all speak like Blair Waldorf we would, but for now fake it til you make it sister.
  5. Remain modest and humble but never talk down about yourself. Always know you are hot and people around you will believe. Try to cut gossip as well, because talking poorly about someone else really doesn't make you any better.
  6. Eat healthy and exercise. This will make you happy and confident and should already be a part of your daily routine anyways.
  7. It is a MENTAL GAME! You have to believe you are the next Beyonce, if not her. Confidence is in your head and I am a firm believer in it! If I could have a Inner Beyonce training camp I would because it is so necessary. DO NOT sell yourself short with anything, because you can always achieve what you set your mind to. Accept this fact and you will start signing your credit card slips, B. ;)

Coconut Oil

Coconut is my favorite flavor in just about anything, ice cream, candles, alcohol...the list goes on and on. I know it is an acquired taste but if you don't own coconut oil I suggest you reconsider! I use coconut oil for ton's of things but let me tell you...it's god's gift to earth!!

Cooking: If you are super health cautious, I advise switching butter and oils for alittle dab of coconut oil. It fights bacteria and some diseases, reduces cholesterol and decreases abdominal fat! It is an all around health food pantry must!

Beauty: One scoop of this bad boy works wonders in my hair! I do an oil treatment once a week where I melt alittle coconut oil over the stove and let it cool a bit. I then massage the warm oil through my roots and ends and let it sit in my hair for 20-30 minutes. Then I just wash it out and do my normal hair routine in the shower. You have to wash your hair atleast twice before you can get all of the oils out. But about two days after I complete the treatment my hair is the softest its ever been and I can run my hands right through it! I also use the extra oil on my body while I am in the shower.

I am telling you...this is worth the purchase. I get the brand you see above at GNC. Enjoy.
